God, in His abundant grace, decided to create. Creation is an act of grace that was done in order for God’s glory to be worshiped and for the created beings to enter into the beautiful dance of the Trinitarian community. Because of the fall, man turned his worship from God to idols, so God sent His only begotten son to redeem His people in order for their worship to be turned away from created things and back to their Creator (John 3:16, Psalm 30:11-12). God’s aim is for His glory to be worshiped, and our aim as a Christian community is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
God, in His grace, has created us with this aim in mind. Because God’s aim is to be worshiped, He put in man the natural inclination to worship what they enjoy.
"I think we delight to praise what we enjoy because the praise not merely expresses but completes the enjoyment; it is its appointed consummation. It is not out of complement that lovers keep on telling one another how beautiful they are, the delight is incomplete till it is expressed." -C. S. Lewis, Reflections on the Psalms
As C.S. Lewis colorfully stated, we already praise an abundance of different things, and our praise of them completes our enjoyment. It is our goal as a ministry to make disciples who enjoy God and express their delight through singing, praying, and reading the scriptures together as a community. Our Tuesday night gatherings, along with small groups and other opportunities are designed to promote the enjoyment of God by the worship of His glory.
"In your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16:11
