Evening MOPS & Teen MOPS

Evening MOPS & Teen MOPS is for all moms, with children of any age.

The new season runs from September 2019 through May 2020. Join us twice a month, on Thursday evenings at 5:30pm – 8:00pm, in room E151-153.

At the meetings, you can expect a hot potluck dinner, knowledgeable speakers, creative activities, and refreshingly honest conversations with other moms. This year, we will explore how Jesus came so that we could have life “to the full,” bringing meaning to this life and hope for the next one! You will be encouraged and equipped for motherhood and life, by embracing a love that is beyond ourselves, which will guide us as we teach, train, and nurture our littles, with integrity modeled in our own lives.

2019 Evening MOPS & Teen MOPS THEME: To The Full

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. – John 10:10 (NIV)

Do you ever feel like you do so much, but also that you’re not doing enough?  Or that no matter what you accomplish, you’re left wanting more?  If so, you’re not alone.  Women today often feel pulled in different directions by our multiple roles as moms, wives, caretakers, employees, students, and more.  In the meantime, our media-saturated society constantly bombards us with messages that we, and our lives, can improve if only...

But living under the weight of such expectations, even when they are our own, only steals our joy, kills our hope, and destroys our contentment.  This is not the way God intended us to live.

Instead, Jesus declared that he came so that we could have life, and have it to the full.  His voice is calling out to us amidst the jumbled noises of the world, inviting us to come to him, find rest, be restored, and trust in his loving care.  Having a full life isn’t doing or striving for more; it’s putting our faith in the Good Shepherd and what he has already done to provide for us now and always, so that we don’t have to strive anymore.  So that we can be grateful, joyful, and hopeful, in the life that we have.

This year, to explore what it means to have life to the full, we will:

Have More Fun – We will learn what it feels like to rest and delight in our creator’s presence, so that we can find proper enjoyment in God’s created things.  Having more fun isn’t a mandate, because genuine fun can’t be self-generated.  Rather, fun is a byproduct of knowing that it doesn’t all fall on us, and that we are immensely loved by the Good Shepherd who will never abandon us.

Fear Less – God’s perfect love drives out fear, and he demonstrated his love by sending his son Jesus to die in our place, taking our just punishment for rebelling against God when we chose to do things our own way.  Trusting Jesus casts out fear by providing us with a meaningful and hopeful existence.  When we trust Jesus, he heals our wounds and removes shame from our past, lights our way in the present, and stomps out our fear of the future.

Find Our People – You are not alone in your struggles.  Here at Evening MOPS & Teen MOPS, we desire to develop a deeply connected community where moms are known by one another, expressing radical generosity, joyful hospitality, sacrificial service and gracious reconciliation.  This community breaks down any potential barriers that age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or parenting philosophy may create, because it is rooted in a love beyond ourselves.  God’s love.
